My sense of style has changed over the years. I would like to think that my fashion taste has evolved but some may disagree depending on whom the question is asked upon. I have perpetually been the type to wear whatever I want to wear, wherever I want to wear it to as long as I feel comfortable with the finished outcome.
My closet consists of several basics such as copious amounts of monochromatic tees and enough denim in various styles that I have not had the courage to toss out for probably the last 10 or so years. I could probably house a small boutique with just my denim.
My style choices tend to always lean towards the non-traditional side although I usually like to mix my pieces up to create my own looks. I have admired the conventional blazer for years now and how they look on other people but I don’t like how they look on me. Something always seems to be off every time I slip one on. I have bought blazers over the years because they have a special design detail or element to them and to this day, I have about six blazers in my closet, EVERY single one of them unworn. Each time I think a blazer will work well with my outfit, something about it screams “NO!” to me. Something about it never appears to be right.
Since I’ve seen military inspired looks walk down the runway, I have deeply adored their fit and the way they are embellished. I love exquisite details on garments. Military jackets typically have embroidery, fabulous buttons and fabulous shape. With all these design elements it is highly unnecessary to adding additional jewelry. Think late legendary Michael Jackson’s spectacular red jacket!
I love all the different lengths, colors and cuts and style them with a cool vintage or concert tee, leather jogger pants or distressed baggy jeans and a fabulous heel or bootie to eliminate any sort of classic look to my completed outfit. Maybe add some sort of metallic belt and I am good to go.
These jackets are perfect to go from day to night especially since so many of these jackets have fabulous ornate features. Typically I will just change into a higher heel in the evening and I feel like I am wearing a whole different outfit.
