With fall around the corner and football season on the horizon… ahh let’s be honest, I don’t give an eff about football.
I purchased this jersey when I was living in Paris and was visiting the UK for a summer weekend. I didn’t expect the weather to be as hot as it was and I had only packed things for the typical summer climate I had experienced in the UK in the past. I was walking around the city uncomfortable and hot in the sweltering sun and went into H&M to look for something more suitable and inexpensive to wear in a pinch.
I came across this football jersey and purchased it with little thought. It was priced right, the colours were appealing to me and it was exactly what I wanted to wear moving about the hot city.
Anyway, since that one wear, it’s been sitting in my closet unworn for the past three years. I couldn’t have cared less if it were there or not BUT it has been so hot in the city lately, I was desperately seeking something that was light, comfortable and not clingy. I came across this old unloved jersey and I had new blue suede shoes I had yet to wear. I thought they would be perfect paired together. However, the jersey is way oversized as if it was actually made for a linebacker and not very flattering to say the least. To make it a little less boxy, I decided to cut off the sleeves that hung down past my elbows and added a gold braided belt to give some more shape and Voila! With the strappy heels and the right accessories, suddenly something that was ill fitting suddenly became a little more feminine and sexy.
I always have my scissors nearby incase something in my closet needs a quick altering.
Do you do anything to alter your clothing or look?
I would love to hear!
